“Treat people as if they were what they ought to be & you help them to become what they are capable of being.” – Goethe
From 18th century German writer, statesman and philosopher, Goethe. Great relational wisdom:
“Treat people as if they were what they ought to be & you help them to become what they are capable of being.”
Wow.
Our actions towards others cast a vision of who they can be. This is so deeply true for children, but it’s also true for everyone we interact with.
Part of the trouble of dehumanizing others, or excluding them, or deciding that their tribe, or nation, or faction are outside of God’s blessing, is that it gives us cover to treat them in ways that are destructive to the soul.
